TOKYO, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were essentially flat Thursday morning as buying triggered by the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar was offset by investors opting to lock in gains after the market's recent rise.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 10.96 points, or 0.05 percent, from Wednesday to 21,155.44.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 0.91 points, or 0.06 percent, at 1,590.24.
Pulp and paper, oil and coal product, and construction issues comprise notable advancers, while mining, rubber product and marine transportation issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
