LHASA, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The civil aviation department of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region estimated the 2021 Spring Festival travel season would see 414,000 air passenger trips entering and leaving the region.
The 40-day travel peak started on Thursday. The department said airlines have planned to add 452 flights to popular destinations, which can provide an additional 54,240 seats.
The department would continue to provide flight information services and strengthen self-service guidance to meet the needs of passengers under COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control while promoting the services for the disabled, the elderly and other passengers with special needs, said Wang Baohua, an official with the department.
China's Spring Festival travel peak is commonly regarded as the world's largest annual human migration. People across the country usually enjoy a week-long holiday for family gatherings and celebrations of the lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 12 this year. Enditem
