HOHHOT, May 2 (Xinhua) -- North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is set to launch a series of flower festivals to boost its tourism industry, the local culture and tourism department said.
Cities across the autonomous region are scheduled to hold festivals based on different flower seasons, such as azaleas in May in the city of Arxan of Hinggan League, June's rape flower in Chifeng city of Harqin Banner, trollflowers in Zhenglan Banner of Xilingol League and sunflowers in August in the city of Bayannur.
Along with these festivals which last approximately one month each, cultural activities themed on ethnic clothing and traditional cuisine will also be held to enrich the experience for tourists.
Inner Mongolia is rich in tourism resources, with its grassland, deserts, forests, ethnic customs and cultural relics attracting tourists from China and abroad.
