SHIJIAZHUANG, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Researchers in north China's Hebei Province have discovered a rare cliff flower during a recent expedition.
Taihangia rupestris, an herb that grows only on vertical cliff faces, gets its name from China's Taihang Mountains. It is an endangered species unique to China.
The researchers estimated there are nearly 10,000 plants covering 4,000 square meters.
The discovery of the plant community is important for studying the local natural environment and ecology, said Fu Zhengliang, head of the research team.
