DUBAI, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday strongly condemned Israeli killing of Palestinian protesters in the Gaza Strip, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
In a statement released on Monday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed the Gulf state's condemnation of the "excessive use of force" by the Israeli army against the unarmed Palestinian people.
"The UAE absolutely rejects the use of force to confront peaceful demonstrators who demand their just rights,'' the statement said.
The statement also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility by stopping violence and protecting the Palestinian people.
It also reiterated the UAE's unequivocal position toward the Palestinian cause and its support for the Palestinian people in regaining their legitimate rights in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Also on Monday, the UAE, through the Emirates Red Crescent, announced the donation of 5 million U.S. dollars to provide urgent medical supplies for Palestinian victims of the clashes in Gaza.
